Job knowledge:
· Ability to assess patient functional skills.
· Demonstrate leadership in therapeutic recreational/counseling activities for mental health adults.
· Sets functional therapeutic goals. Documentation skills demonstrate the ability to express goals/progress concretely.
· Structures therapeutic activities taking in consideration patient’s cognitive and physical limitations with discharge planning needs.
· Ability to write and discuss therapeutic interventions during multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings.
· Knowledge of recreation equipment available for interventions (i.e. musical equipment, VCR/DVD, computer, Zoom experience, customer relations.
· Ensures overall safety of patients during rehabilitation activities.
· Makes sure all unsafe objects are properly accounted for and stored. Presents self in a professional manner when dealing with patient’s family/friends or when out of hospital on department business.
QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
Required Qualifications:
· Completion of hospital orientation within the first 30 days of employment.:
• Associate degree in related fields such as, Art, Music, Dance/Movement, Psychology, Sociology, Kinesiology, Theater and Education from an accredited college or university
• One year of work experience in any related fields including Recreation, Art,
Music, Dance/Movement, Sociology, Kinesiology, Theater and Education in a clinical or community setting.
• AHA Basic Life Support within 30 days after start of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing
environment
• Management of Assaultive Behavior Certification upon hire
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Hollywood and Van Nuys only) within 30 days after start of employment
